Open your sinuses up with some horseradish
You probably know that horseradish can open our sinuses, but did you know that it also has lots of health benefits? Horseradish is a root vegetable that is used in cuisines all over the world including Mediterranean, Indian, Southeast Asian, and more. Its medicinal purposes go back thousands of years. Horseradish hosts vitamins and minerals that can support our digestion and immune system. It is naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial which can help to kill pathogens in our gut. When you feel congested, it can help to open our sinuses and clear out mucus. And for a last fun fact about Horseradish, it has also been found to have anti-cancer properties. Healing Meals Horseradish Crusted Cod
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ lb wild cod filets
- ¼ cup mayonnaise (try for avocado oil
based mayonnaise as a healthier
option) - ¼ cup prepared horseradish (look for
an option that doesn’t have a lot of
extra ingredients) - 1 Tablespoon lemon juice (fresh or
bottled is fine) - 1 Tablespoon chopped parsley
- 1 cup potato flakes
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Create a marinade by mixing mayonnaise, horseradish, lemon juice, parsley, salt, and pepper together and coat the fish completely.
- Then, coat the fish in potato flakes.
- Bake the fish at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until the internal temperature of the fish reaches 145 degrees F.
- Remove from the oven and let the fish rest for 10 minutes before enjoying.
