Vibrantly Green Basil
Basil is a fragrant and vibrantly green herb that is used in global cuisine. There are many different varieties including sweet basil, Thai basil, purple basil, holy (tulsi) basil, to name a few. Basil can be added fresh to a salad, blended fresh to make a pesto or dressing, and added fresh or dried to a soup for that added flavor punch. It may be surprising to learn that such a small bit of green can pack a hefty nutritious punch of medicine. Basil is a great source of vitamin K which is essential for the absorption of vitamin D for bone health among other health benefits. It has also been found to help with cholesterol and blood pressure. Basil has even been found to support prevention of certain types of cancer.
