Development Associate
Lisa holds a B.A. in International Issues of Inequity and Poverty, an Individualized Major, from the University of Connecticut. She started her career as an intern for Save the Children’s US Programs which lead to a position in their International Programs and was followed by Emergency Food Relief placements in Malawi and Ethiopia. She later worked as the Africa Program Manager for Aid to Artisans traveling frequently to the Southern Africa region. Her interest in improving systems and efficiency, lead to a customized position as the liaison between Program, Finance and Human Resources. During this time, she helped to streamline and develop several processes, policies, and procedures. After the closure of Aid to Artisans, she was blessed with the opportunity to stay home with her two children. Having worked as a group fitness instructor for several years, her interest in health and wellness continued to grow. She hoped to become involved with Healing Meals and the timing was perfect when she was asked to join the team as the Grants Associate. She is excited to be a part of the health movement that is Healing Meals, a perfect combination of her professional skills and personal interests.
Lisa has worked and volunteered in a variety of international development and humanitarian relief projects throughout Africa, Central America and Eastern Europe. Her most recent interest includes helping raise service dogs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. She is passionate about doing what she can to help others. Lisa enjoys all things outdoors and loves to increase awareness around environmental issues. Her favorite way to spend time is with her family.
