Each week, we deliver a bag of freshly-prepared meals to your door. Each delivery consists of the following (per person):
- 4 complete
entrees - 1 soup
- 1 quart of immune broth
The meals come in disposable and recyclable containers. We do not need the containers returned but we would like the reusable grocery bags returned the following week.
Our meals are made with the best organic, locally sourced (when possible), food we can buy. We pride ourselves on bringing you whole grains and legumes, fresh organic fruits and vegetables, fresh wild caught fish, local pasture raised poultry, unrefined healthy oils: coconut, olive, sesame, and avocado. We use only natural sugars: fruit, honey, coconut sugar, maple syrup. Sea salt, sea vegetables, organic herbs and spices, and mushrooms. We do not use any refined or processed food, chemical additives or genetically modified ingredients (all ingredients are NON-GMO). We do not use any processed refined oils such as canola, soybean or cottonseed. In addition, we do not use high fructose corn syrup, agave, white or brown sugar, food colorants or farmed/factory meat or fish.
Our meals follow the American Institute of Cancer Research’s healthy plate format, with 2/3 of the plate consisting of plant-based whole foods. We are blessed to be an affiliate of the Ceres Community Project. Ceres has been preparing and serving meals to their clients for over 10 years and we use many of the recipes from their cookbook, Nourishing Connections Cookbook.
Our meals are made with love and care each week.
For more information about the foods we prepare, see the section on our website Meals That Heal.
We rely primarily on individual donations and grants from family foundations for the work that we do. Friends and family members of current and past clients along with members from the community are some of our biggest supporters.
Often people will suggest that donations be made to Healing Meals Community Project in honor of someone they love, whether for a birthday or in memoriam. These gifts play a vital role in enabling us to serve our many clients.
All donations made to Healing Meals Community Project are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Donations can be sent to Healing Meals Community Project, P.O. Box 7223 Bloomfield, CT 06002. Donations can also be made through our website. Please click to Donate Now!
Planned Giving is another important way of supporting our work. Naming Healing Meals Community Project in your will is a simple way of ensuring that others will be able to benefit from our services. Please let us know if you would like to discuss this with us. You can contact Karen Carew at karenc@healingmealsproject.org or 860-264-5864.
Volunteering is another great way to support Healing Meals. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer, please contact Chrissy Barnard, our Volunteer Manager, at chrissy@healingmealsproject.org or 860-264-5864.
