Kim Mathieu

Kitchen Assistant

After a decade of caregiving and recently losing her husband to Alzheimer’s disease, Kim began volunteering at Healing Meals in the fall of 2021 as a way to get back into a routine of spending time with community and youth and to help find a new purpose going forward. Like many others, she immediately realized that it was those early shifts at HM that were actually healing her and allowing her to open her heart and start to experience the joy that comes with serving others and giving back, especially in the local community. She was delighted to be asked to join the kitchen team as a kitchen assistant in early 2022, a job she calls a labor of love. It truly never feels like work and she appreciates the chance to be herself, develop relationships with the adult and youth volunteers and continue to learn and grow as a person, all the while working toward a purpose of helping clients receive healthy and nutritious meals made with love.

Kim has a BS in finance from Providence College and spent 30 years in the insurance industry primarily with Aetna in underwriting, account management and product development. She enjoys being outdoors year round, especially hiking and walking. She lives in Bloomfield, has two grown children in CT and especially treasures time with her grandson, Nolan.
